Plane Stupid shuts down airport

Plane Stupid, a coalition fighting against the aviation industry’s increasing environmental footprint, have closed down flights at the Stansted Airport in London this Monday. The peaceful protest staged on a under maintenance runway begun around 3AM, canceling 57 flights by 8AM when more than 50 protesters were arrested. The average flight out of Stansted has a climate impact equivalent to 41.58 tonnes of CO2. Read more here
