The power of wind has been the unsung hero of our development as a civilization. It has brought Columbus to the Americas and now is the most promising energy source of the 21st century. Would wind change the course of history again?
Magenn Power Inc., a Canadian company, is convinced that it is the case. Magenn Power received the Star Wars contract worth $20 million and which resulted in patenting the Magnus Airship in 1980s, placing them at the forefront of lighter-then-air technology development. The resulting design received the Canadian Government Award of Excellence in 1984 and in 1985, the Philip Petroleum Award for Science.

With 28 years experience in materials and aerodynamic research and development, they are bringing the 21st century wind turbine design, MARS (Magenn Power Air Rotor System). Its lighter-than-air rotor system is the perfect answer for emergency situations and remote areas.

The portable towerless unit is tethered, responding easily to wind changes and can be integrated into any grid or used in areas lacking one. It can be used at altitudes as high as 300m harnessing the potential of higher wind speeds than conventional wind turbines that reach only to 125m above ground. Its versatility and low production cost may replace conventional wind farms in a not too distant future.
